We spend the first part of our lives building up the ego—finding a suitable career, forging relationships, having a family and enjoying watching the children grow up, cultivating hobbies and moving ahead in this material world. And then, if we are wise, we spend our later years releasing the ego because the ego only has a function in this world and if we cling onto it we can be sure we will be back again for another life after this one, maybe several more lives.

Over time, the delights of city life, with all its hustle and bustle and a thousand distractions, begin to fade away, so much so that they may lose their former attraction altogether. Now a peaceful, quiet life in a secluded rural spot suddenly seems more appealing. What is it about nature that inexorably draws us to it? Is it the beauty of the natural world? Or the fresh air? The smell of spring? Or the tranquillity that permits us to have quiet moments of introspection? Or the joy of watching flowers, vegetables and fruit trees grow?

When one reminisces about one’s past there comes the realisation that it all took place in the blink of an eye. Where did all those years go? Were they just an illusion? As Jesus says in A Course in Miracles, ACIM, “This world was over long ago.” T589

He says, “Each day, and every minute in each day, and every instant that each minute holds, you but relive the single instant when the time of terror [i.e. the separation] took the place of love…Such is each life; a seeming interval from birth to death and on to life again, a repetition of an instant gone by long ago that cannot be relived. And all of time is but the mad belief that what is over is still here and now.” T552.

We will only stop reliving the moment of separation when we are finally able to become aware that the separation never actually happened. In our minds, it most certainly did happen. But, in reality, the Awakened Masters tells us that it was all just a dream of separation.

So knowing that, it makes sense for the remainder of one’s life to focus on awakening from the dream. This invariably entails following a spiritual path and basically doing as one is told by one’s teacher/guru. The ego has no place in that endeavour. It just has to be left behind—although this process will most probably be a gradual one.

I’ve searched and searched and read and studied for so many years and finally I was lead to A Course in Miracles, which I recognised almost immediately as my pathway Home. Then a few months ago, by the grace of God, I was lead to direct instruction from Jesus in collaboration with a group of Ascended Masters called Ananda. Their teachings are amazing and, they say, if we follow their recommendations as well as doing the lessons of ACIM, we will be on the fastest path Home.

Jesus and Ananda are continually sending us incredibly important information in the form of books, channelled through Tina Louise Spalding, who is one of the clearest channels I know of. They also give us the opportunity of taking part in live channelling sessions twice a month. It is a privilege, a great honour and a joy to be part of this virtual gathering, which helps us raise our frequency levels and which Jesus describes as, “sacred.”
