A teacher of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) who has helped me considerably over the years is Gary Renard. When I read his first book, “The Disappearance of the Universe,” it was as though a light had switched on in my mind that enabled me to comprehend the difficult metaphysical concepts of ACIM.

I re-read his books from time to time as I always learn something new each time. In Gary’s book, “Love Has Forgotten No One” there is an excellent description of true forgiveness. We are told that we do not forgive someone for something they have actually done, because everything that is happening in the world has been projected out of our own minds. As the Ascended Master, Pursah tells Gary, on page 21: “True forgiveness releases people because they haven’t really done anything, because you’re the one who made them up in the first place. What you’re seeing is your projection of a universe of time and space…” If one is able to remember this consistently, it will facilitate the forgiveness process.

According to ACIM, we have unconscious guilt in our minds because we believe we really separated from God, when, in fact, we didn’t because this is just a dream of separation. It is not possible to actually separate from perfect oneness but because we believe we did, we have a lot of hard work to do, which involves undoing the ego’s belief system through mind-training and forgiveness of self and others.

On page 15 of the book we are given a very important tip. The Ascended Master Arten says that we can speed up our forgiveness practice immeasurably if we think of everyone we meet as being part of perfect oneness, i.e. one with God. The following is a key idea: “Your unconscious will understand that if they are perfect oneness with God, then it means that you must be perfect oneness with God.” This should help us overcome our belief in the separation. However, it is a process and is not something that can be done in all in one go.

All Gary Renard’s books are worth reading and re-reading if one wants a clear understanding of A Course in Miracles.
